Vince Di Placido is an indispensable member of the online Lanza community---as highly regarded for his superb video presentations of Lanza's legacy as he is for his musical knowledge and the intelligence he brings to discussions on the tenor.

All of these qualities are to the fore in his latest video: a magnificent in-depth tribute to the great Mario! album of Neapolitan songs that Lanza recorded in December 1958.

we really appreciate your most Stirling Efforts in keeping the Vocal Spirits of dear Mario Lanza alive, who regrettably passed away far far to early !!! . . . though under somewhat most mysterious circumstances, our research revealed

I have adored Mario and his voice from seeing The Grear Caruso as a teenager. I am now 85. The greatest voice and yet very under appreciated.

I adore and appreciate Mario Lanza's voice and music more than I can say. I have DVDs of all his films, multiple CDs of his recorded music, and I have 9 and have read all of those biographies.

I grew up in South Philadelphia and my mother went to Southern (South Philadelphia High School) with Mario and told me several anecdotes about him ... My grandmother, like Mario's mother, was from Abruzzi. As an opera lover in my late teens and early twenties I frequented the Victor Cafe' where I heard virtually every singer of note from their immense collection of original 78s. The word on Mario was that he had a small voice ... Well, I have since been disabused of that notion and thanks to the serendipitous discovery of Vincent Di Placido's youtube videos I have 'rediscovered' the real and true Lanza. I purchased an orthophonic Victrola so that I could hear what Caruso really sounded like ... but I truly believe that Lanza's voice has that golden fullness even the great Caruso lacked. I wanted to express my sincere thanks to Vincent and also to Armando for his wonderful biography. Lanza's last album is him and his magnificent voice at their best. Mille grazie!

Thank you so much for those lovely words Emanuel!
That was my first video of that nature and I was extremely nervous but I did love sharing my love of Mario’s beautiful Neapolitan album.
It’s a Living Stereo classic that should have much wider recognition.
It makes me very happy you enjoy the YouTube work, thanks for watching.

Vincent, I am still trying to defend Mario on Facebook, I still keep telling them all to watch your videos with Derek and Armando Dispelling the Myths. As you all said you tell them one thing and they come back with another. I got Armando's book but the DVD wasn't with it! Such a pity. I hope you are keeping well, I realise I can't message with Derek and Armando, such a pity.
